Geospatial Technologies Create New Windows to the Past at Chaco Culture National Historic Park Author: Richard A Friedman 2105 East Aztec Ave. Phone: 505-863-9517 Several diverse geospatial technologies are being used to improve research results in Chaco Culture National Historic Park. The McKinley County GIS Center, the Navajo Nation Chaco Protection Sites Program, and the National Park Service are working together to establish nondestructive methods for archaeological research. At the heart of this new research is data integration within a rigid geospatial context. There will be specific examples of how the data is integrated using ArcView GIS, and the results achieved from data integration. After 100 years of scientific exploration, this innovative approach to Chaco Anasazi research is opening new windows to the past. |
