The University of Wisconsin-Madison Land Information and Computer Graphics Facility has developed and presented a number of land use planning training sessions to support a pilot project in citizen-based land use planning. With the advent of ModelBuilder in ArcView Spatial Analyst, a part of that technology transfer can be done with an easily understood graphic model for participants to experiment with. We have taken applications we developed for farmland priority zones, growth management factors, and environmental corridors and converted them into models within ModelBuilder. This paper presents those models, as well as the response of participants to their use.
