The Census Bureau is developing the American Community Survey as a way to give the nation critical information every year, not just once in 10 years. Designed to replace the decennial census long form, the American Community Survey will be a tool to make programs more flexible to meet community needs and to determine how well programs are working by measuring results. American Community Survey data will provide geographers and planners with opportunities for the spatial analysis of demographic, housing, and economic information that will be refreshed yearly. The Census Bureau plans to conduct the American Community Survey nationwide in 2003. This presentation will provide an overview of the program, its operations, and data products.
