Abstract
Profiling South Carolina's Communities: Disseminating Community Data Using GIS and the WebTrack: State and Local Government

The State of South Carolina contains more than 1,400 towns and communities, each with its own unique characteristics and traits. It is the responsibility of the Department of Commerce to provide a concise profile of each of these communities to prospective industries that are considering South Carolina for business expansion or location. This paper details the methodology used to integrate ArcInfo software's data-gathering techniques with ColdFusion’s deployment capabilities to create a comprehensive and seamless Web-based community profile application that allows users to find communities that fit their spatial, economic, and demographic criteria.
