Teaching GIS in the Classroom: Story Maps as a Case Study

Our program’s general education course was revised to reflect today’s classroom where students actively create knowledge. Students worked in groups to apply their environmental science knowledge and utilize Esri’s ArcGIS Online resources to create a story map final project. Through multiple two hour laboratory sessions, students published an interactive story map in line with the requirements set forth by Esri. The presentation today discusses the lessons learned from this teaching experience.
