ArcCAD Version 14 for AutoCAD Release 14 Now Shipping

New ArcCAD Release Offers GIS Options to CAD Community

Redlands, California--Esri, the world leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, mapping components, and spatial database management tools, announced today the release of ArcCAD Version 14, an upgrade that operates with AutoCAD release 14, including lightweight polylines and solid fills.

ArcCAD Version 14 provides a full range of mapping and GIS solutions for computer-aided design (CAD) users. It works as an extension to AutoCAD release 14, integrating Esri's GIS and mapping technology with AutoCAD.
ArcCAD incorporates powerful tools to turn CAD data into intelligent GIS information that can be used in ArcCAD, ArcView GIS, or other Esri GIS software.

To extend the use of intelligent GIS data, Esri announced a discount software bundle including ArcCAD (new purchases as well as upgrades) and ArcView GIS. Says Clark Swinehart, ArcCAD product manager, "Once GIS data are created, the demand to view, use, and manipulate them is quite strong. With ArcCAD as data creator and ArcView GIS as a desktop viewer, more individuals have access to the decision-making power of GIS."

ArcCAD Version 14 functionality includes ArcInfo-style topological data construction methods, advanced polygon processing, and a cadre of tools for high-end cartography/mapping in conjunction with AutoCAD's design and drafting tools. Through ArcCAD, users create and manage geographic databases, perform spatial and attribute queries, and output custom maps. Users can also create, access, and exchange data with ArcView GIS and ArcInfo, the de facto standard for local, state, and national GIS installations.

ArcCAD software's powerful functionality leverages an organization's established data production with CAD. Whether filling the role of a stand-alone GIS station or as an important component in the enterprise GIS solution, ArcCAD allows users to get the job done.

ArcCAD Version 14 is now available on Windows (95 and NT) platforms. This update is provided free of charge to users of ArcCAD Version 11.4.1. Esri is also offering a series of special bundles to coincide with the release of ArcView GIS Version 3.1.
