ArcView GIS Version 3.1 Now Shipping

Redlands, California--Esri, the world leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, mapping components, and spatial database management tools, is pleased to announce that ArcView GIS Version 3.1 is now shipping.

ArcView GIS Version 3.1 includes hundreds of new features and enhancements including an integrated report writer, new and updated data, plus a new utility for SAP R/3 data extraction. Of special note, Version 3.1 introduces a wizard-based approach to accomplishing a variety of more sophisticated tasks such as advanced map production and advanced geoprocessing. ArcView GIS Version 3.1 contains improved cartographic compatibility with ArcInfo software and includes hundreds of new symbols for better map composition.

The newest release of ArcView GIS contains new and improved extensions. The Dialog Designer extension has been updated for better GIS application development. Also included is an enhanced Database Access extension offering improved access to enterprise information resources, an updated CADReader extension for AutoCAD Release 14, and an MGE Reader extension for projects created in Intergraph's MGE, MicroStation GeoGraphics (MSG), and design files with associated database linkages. New direct data readers are included such as TIFF 6.0 and MrSID.
