Announcing MapObjects IMS Version 2.0

As Easy To Set Up as ArcView IMS and as Flexible as MapObjects

Redlands, California--MapObjects Internet Map Server (IMS) is an extension for MapObjects that makes it easy for Windows developers to build custom Web mapping applications. The goal of MapObjects IMS Version 2.0 is to make this product "as easy to set up as ArcView IMS and as flexible as MapObjects," says David Maguire, director of product planning, Esri.

The upcoming release of MapObjects IMS Version 2.0 adds support for Web-based data distribution of raster and vector formats, allowing users to create their own vector and raster data servers. It also adds tools to simplify map server administration and fully integrates a browser-based version of ArcExplorer, Esri's lightweight GIS data explorer.

The highlight of MapObjects IMS Version 2.0 is the ability to serve maps to ArcExplorer. In addition, MapObjects IMS can serve ArcExplorer Project Files (.aep). This makes creating and serving dynamic Web maps uncomplicated. New administration tools in version 2.0 greatly simplify the management of map services.

The tools are available through a single interface that can be used to administer services distributed across different map servers in an Intranet or the Internet. The list of functions includes the ability to toggle map services on and off, add new map services, and allow the downloading of vector data.

MapObjects IMS Version 2.0 is scheduled to be available in the second quarter of 1998. When available, existing users will be able to freely download an upgrade. For more information or to order MapObjects IMS, call Esri at 1-800-447-9778. Or visit Esri online at www.Esri.com/mapobjectsims. Outside the United States, contact your local Esri distributor.
