Abstract
GIS Applied to Virtual Reality and Real-Time SimulationTrack: Defense and Intelligence

For the last five years, ArcInfo GIS has been used to develop realistic simulator displays for use in U.S. Air Force mission rehearsal and mission preview. Using ArcInfo GIS, natural and man-made feature information is collected from a variety of sources. The resulting feature database, combined with an elevation data set and a high-resolution ground image database, is used in special PC or mainframe simulators to virtually visit regions of the world prior to actual on-site visits. Video samples and a demonstration real-time fly-through will be included in the presentation.
