Implementing GIS in large organizations come with significant obstacles in implementing an enterprise program. These obstacles include pooling and securing funding across large agencies and departments, dealing with a wide variety of disciplines, establishing centralized data repositories, navigating large hierarchical and internal political structures; not to mention establishing the information technology backbone that may extend over numerous square miles. This panel draws GIS managers from New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles who will openly share their implementation strategies.
