AbstractKeeping an Eye on POTUS During Inauguration 2001 Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Stacey Mayse On January 18, 2001, the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) began 24 hour support to the 2001 Presidential Inauguration by creating digital event maps and graphics using Esri’s ArcView GIS. In conjunction with Esri’s Streetmap, an ArcView extension, NIMA integrated unique data and over-laid annotations on street maps of Washington, D.C. NIMA’s standard mapping products were included in datasets and additional customized products were generated to fulfill customer requirements to maintain situational awareness for the management of personnel and ceremonial activities in the National Capital Region throughout Inaugural weekend. By using the Raster Map Tool extension, NIMA personnel collaboratively assisted liaison officers from numerous federal, state and local officials interact seamlessly with maps and imagery of appropriate resolution and fidelity.
