Abstract
Field Data Collection and ArcGIS 8.1 Implementation

This paper will address how capital projects can be used to upgrade the GIS environment. Orlando Utilities Commission was able to use the need for current and accurate street light and joint use information to build database components for the implementation of ArcInfo 8.1. This approach reduced the cost for data migration by using the capital project to fund data collection. The project was designed to meet the ArcInfo 8 geodatabase model requirements.
