AbstractAfter the Conversion – Parcel-Based GIS Tools Track: Cadastral and Land Records Author(s): Chris Markel One of the primary elements in any municipal, county, or regional GIS operation is parcel data. The building of a parcel layer is an expensive and lengthy process, and good uses must be made of the data when conversion is complete. Local governments use parcels to manage permitting or utility billing information. County governments use parcels for assessment or zoning, and regional agencies use parcels in planning and economic development, among other uses. This presentation covers uses of parcel data in GIS operations in governments in and around Pennsylvania. Examples of applications will be shown.
