AbstractGIS Coordination at America's Remotest Marine Sanctuary and National Park Track: Ocean, Coastal, and Marine Resources Author(s): Dawn Jeannine Wright Presented here is a case study of GIS activities in progress at the Fagatele Bay National Marine Sanctuary (FBNMS) and National Park, both in American Samoa. The FBNMS will soon be visited by the Sustainable Seas Expeditions (SSE) for initial exploration of the deeper parts of the sanctuary and park with advanced diving technology. The goal of devised ArcView projects will be to meet the primary SSE objectives of (1) detailed mapping of coral reef species abundance and composition; (2) development of sanctuary program monitoring protocols; and (3) selection of sites for habitat class designation and protection (e.g., no-take zones).
