AbstractProviding City-Wide GIS Data and Applications for the Big Apple Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Jim Hall This presentation will review the project currently underway at the New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications to design and implement the City's "GIS Utility." This project is focused on building an infrastructure to gather commonly used spatial data and metadata and publishing it for City government and the public. Three key interagency GIS Web applications are being created to support this effort. This presentation will discuss the following aspects of the project: scope and goals, notable milestones, use of technology, obstacles and solutions, and the future of the project.
