AbstractModeling Reuse Options for Surplus City Property Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Hillary Hamilton More than 50 former electrical substation sites and other vacant lands distributed across the City of Seattle are available for reuse and/or disposition. The City's real estate staff had identified multiple potential uses, each with their advocates, at some locations (e.g., affordable housing, community gardens, neighborhood parks). Esri's ModelBuilder for ArcView Spatial Analyst supports decision making by weighting each alternative use’s prime site criteria and then evaluating the suitability of each site. The paper presents information regarding the types of data that were available and how the model was created and applied to evaluate specific sites and identify preferred reuse options.
