AbstractBuilding a Lower Cost Image Layer for GIS Applications Track: Remote Sensing Imagery Author(s): Thomas Murdoch, Julie Raine Gathering current aerial imagery for a GIS project has always been a time consuming and expensive process. This paper will describe a new technique that is used to build less expensive mosaics and imagery base layers for GIS projects. The process uses new updated aerial photography or satellite imagery and ties it to an existing orthorectified base image saving time and money. A pipeline project case study will be examined describing processes, accuracies, and practical experiences.
