AbstractClimate Atlas of the Contiguous United States Track: Climate and Weather Author(s): Lynn A Goss, Marc S Plantico This paper presents the results of a GIS project designed to produce a CD-ROM Climate Atlas of the contiguous United States. The Atlas contains 737 color maps of climatic elements, such as temperature, precipitation, snow, wind, pressure, etc., intended to portray the climate of the United States. The point data used for the maps came from the extensive holdings of the National Climatic Data Center. GIS tools used include ArcInfo, ArcView, ArcExplorer, and PRISM, a proprietary climate model. The Atlas interface is written in Java, and its maps are displayed in ArcExplorer.
