This presentation will provide an overview of several issues an organization needs to consider when purchasing or implementing a GPS to go with an existing GIS. Rather than focusing on a specific GIS/GPS application, this paper will be unique and touch on three key issues: (1) purchasing the right GPS unit to fit your needs, (2) how to integrate GIS and GPS together within an organization (featuring both database design and personnel issues), and (3) avoiding potential problems and maximizing benefits.
