Abstract
A Municipal System of Cartography (Lisbon)

The Municipality of Lisbon, responsible for the city planning and management, is a trustee for an important set of cartography material. With this paper, we want to describe a system developed by the Department of Urban Information of the Municipality of Lisbon (Portugal). It aims at the storage and the internal or public dissemination of varied cartography, developed on Esri tools. This system is based on a network supported by several servers (ArcSDE and ArcIMS included), and it allows
- Paper printing of cartography
- Distribution of cartographic files, in several formats
- Consultation of interactive cartography, or by an internal network, either by the Web
In order to make the system operational, we developed several extensions for the customization of ArcView.
