Abstract
U.S. Army Europe IMS Initiative: A Platform for Distributed GIS

GIS provides a strong component for proactive military land management for U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) forces. The USAREUR Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) program relies on ArcSDE and ArcIMS for dissemination of spatial data to the many scattered Army Europe training areas. Military and civilian end users with varying degrees of GIS proficiency may access a centralized ArcSDE server. This case study will outline the design, implementation, and administration of this distributed GIS.
