Abstract
Planning and Implementation of Enterprise GIS SystemsTrack: Defense and Intelligence

SPAWAR Systems Center Charleston, SC has been tasked to support several agencies in development of enterprise GIS architectures. Several development models have been utilized in the various projects, and a phased approach adopted in implementation. The architectures developed have integrated new web-based technologies, such as ArcIMS, as well as unique thin-client, server-based computing technologies to meet a variety of customer needs and data management requirements. This paper discusses the project planning and execution, technologies employed, and the lessons
learned.
