AbstractIntegrating GIS into Emergency Services: A Case Study Track: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Author(s): Paul Trudt, Mark Dougherty This paper will focus on the central role of GIS in the creation and integration of an E911 database by the St. Louis County Police Department. The St. Louis County Police have successfully implemented GIS practices that allow integration of the E911 database with a new Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) to provide emergency services to the more than one million citizens of the County. Additionally, the E911 database has been integrated into an in-house GPS application and has become the focus of a multidepartmental data migration to an ArcSDE environment. This paper will examine the steps involved in this successful integration.
