Abstract
Variations of the TIFF Imagery Format and Their Impact

TIFF files have become a standard deliverable for GIS raster imagery. Yet this format is far from standardized. Different software packages georeference TIFF files using different tags, which are often incompatible. This paper will discuss the differences between types of TIFF files from a user's viewpoint. It will explore how Esri and other software packages georeference TIFFs, identify potential problems, and offer generalized solutions.
