AbstractEnriching a Maximum/Actual Agricultural Production GIS Using ArcIMS Track: Agriculture Author(s): Michael D Myers, G Allen Finchum This paper describes an ArcIMS application for enriching a maximum/actual agricultural production database. The model includes a regression equation mapping theoretical maximum yields for approximately 300 world regions along with actual yield data and residuals. The database and regression equation updates dynamically when environmental or yield data is altered. Users access the ArcIMS application to simulate change, interpret residuals, and update data. User uploads become alternative server files or upgrade the base output. Research applications include carrying capacity, environmental change, cultural-ecological comparisons, and targeting development aid and investments. A case application compares residuals for traditional and industrial agricultural systems.
