AbstractThe Utilization of GIS for the Countermeasure against Landslide Track: EMS, Fire, Disaster Management Author(s): Akiyuki Kawasaki Two methodologies and a system for the countermeasure against landslide using GIS are proposed in this thesis. 1) Methodology of creating cliff and the area, hit by landslide, from DEM and Landuse data. 2) Methodology of creating dangerous area for landslide from rainfall data, and a system disclosing this information to local residents. These methodologies can be applied anywhere else because these data are easy to get. Moreover, dangerous cliff and the area are created at the same time even wide city area. These methodologies will allow us to extract dangerous cliff and area without fieldwork, and this information will help local residents with proper actions. Minami ward, Yokohama city in Japan was selected as a study area.
