Abstract
3D Visualization in Electronic Participatory Roadway DesignTrack: Transportation and Logistics

This presentation reports on research that uses ArcView 3D Analyst and other third party visualization software to improve the public’s understanding and decision making in transportation infrastructure questions. A focus group of citizens was engaged in a dialog through several meetings to solve the problem of highway traffic growth through an environmentally complex zone. Various visualization strategies, combined with electronic scoring tools, were explored with the group while examining a variety of design options. The results of this research will be used by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in their subsequent public involvement strategies for future transportation projects.
