Abstract
Migration of a Application to ArcIMS

ArcIMS signifies an important shift in interactive mapping Web development as it was designed specifically for the Web environment and utilizes current information technology standards and methods. Although existing applications cannot be directly translated into ArcIMS, there are a number of similarities and methods in which a majority of the source code and processes can be recycled in the ArcIMS environment. This presentation will guide the audience through a migration of a application to a customized ArcIMS application using the ActiveX Connector. Discussion will also be focused on the identification of design changes, code reuse, skill needs, and lessons learned.
