Abstract
Using GIS in Avalanche Hazard ManagementTrack: Ski/Avalanche

Following catastrophic avalanches in 1995, the Icelandic Meteorological Office became responsible for reducing avalanche risk to affected communities. This paper presents the use of GIS in avalanche hazard management efforts including the construction of an avalanche database, terrain analysis, and risk evaluation.
