Abstract
Evaluating Groundwater Basins in California's Central ValleyTrack: Water Resources

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) and California's Department of Water Resources (DWR) have been involved in the collection of groundwater data in California's Central Valley for more than 40 years. The historic georeferenced database is Web-accessible. USBR is using ArcInfo and ArcView to assess changes in groundwater elevations (and volumes) for individual basins in the Central Valley utilizing historic groundwater level data. This paper discusses the procedures used to develop time sequences of snapshots for a sample basin(s) from 1960 to 2001. Requirements for maintenance of this data are also presented.
