AbstractFinding a Common Ground to Build a Regional GIS Database Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Scott L Burton, MaryBeth Meehan This presentation outlines methods that were used by Florida Atlantic University to develop a regional GIS database in south Florida. The regional databases were developed for two projects, the Biscayne Bay Partnership Initiative and the "Imaging the Region" project. Both projects sought to define and assess conditions and trends of natural, built, and social environments. A comparative analysis interprets the two methods that were used to develop these databases and develops a taxonomy that acts as a blueprint for the development of regional data sets.
