Abstract
Wetland Mitigation Site Identification for Transportation Projects: Snohomish County, Washington

Development within the Swamp Creek and North Creek Basins is rapidly expanding to accommodate population growth in the Seattle and Everett metropolitan areas. Accordingly, both Snohomish County and the Washington Department of Transportation have extensive transportation projects planned within the basins. This paper discusses our effort to use GIS to help identify, map, and evaluate potential wetland mitigation sites. Using a suitability model that we developed, we were able to identify several potential mitigation sites. The final product was a CD that contains a GIS data set of the sites and an Access database of the field observations.
