Abstract

Implementing HAZUS in a Small City
Track: EMS, Fire, Disaster Management
Author(s): Edwin DeYoung

HAZUS, FEMA's hazard event modeling software, is used with ArcView for earthquake hazard analysis for the City of Beverly Hills, California. The threat of an earthquake event is modeled for appropriate response planning. Since the City of Beverly Hills consists of only six census tracts, smaller units of analysis are required to obtain the desired resolution. The resolution of this analysis is evaluated and the results are compared with traditional hazard analysis.
