AbstractFrom Client Need to Developer Script to Client Satisfaction Track: Application Development Author(s): Jill Parsons, Peter Godfrey While Esri's ArcView provides full functionality for many end users, often clients desire some customization of their interface and applications. This does not always result in new applications, but rather small add-ons in terms of functionality that can make the difference between a good project implementation and a great one. These small requirement nuggets are usually identified in the needs assessment phase of a GIS project and passed on to the developer for programming. On the other hand, these "nuggets" can appear as the project is being rolled out through client system interaction. Using real-world examples of scripts provided for the conservation, utility, and public sector markets, this presentation will discuss the process of developing scripts based on documented and undocumented user needs.
