Abstract
The Empowered Field Force: Leveraging Emerging Technologies in the Field
Track: New Technology and Technology Integration

Companies looking to implement mobile solutions are faced with a myriad of technology choices. This paper looks at these choices and tradeoffs in hardware, software and communications, and how they relate to Esri systems.
In particular the presentation will focus on the critical areas of data flow, management, and design of fit-for purpose, user-centric applications that allow Esri data to be taken to the field. The range of solutions that are discussed will cover the range from simple viewing to data capture to full update back to the GIS.
The paper focuses on how to best leverage the emerging technologies for mobile workers and will conclude with an analysis
of how differing methods of implementation can impact on the various business processes within the organization by referring
to existing implementations and case studies.
