AbstractBetter Addresses for All: The Indianapolis/Marion County Master Addressing Database Track: Database Design, Automation, and Management Author(s): Richard L Petrecca, Jr., David Mockert Recognizing street addresses as the vital location component of local government data, the City of Indianapolis/Marion County has embarked on the creation of a Master Addressing Database to be used enterprisewide. The ultimate goal of this project is to reduce redundancy of databases throughout the enterprise, improve geocoding capabilities through consistent, accurate address information; and improve the use of GIS tools. This paper presents key aspects of this project, now in its early stages. Points discussed include database design considerations, organizational issues, data cleanup issues and tools, current project status, and future goals.
