AbstractFacilitating Cumulative Effects of Transportation Projects Using GIS Track: Environment Management Author(s): Richard John Garcia Cumulative impact assessment is becoming a major effort for transportation agencies to address for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation of a transportation project. Cumulative impact analysis is defined as the documentation of impacts a project will present on an environmental resource that functions as an integral part of a larger system. The proper implementation of GIS in this type of analysis leads to better documentation of the data collection process and assessment of impacts. ArcView GIS is an excellent tool for environmental planners who have projects that may be closely scrutinized by the public and/or reviewing agencies.
