Abstract
GIS Applications for Strategic Environmental Management

This paper presents examples of uses of GIS in strategic environmental management and data analyses. We have used GIS in various applications such as identifying locations with higher environmental susceptibility for strategic risk management, and very effectively communicating field and analytical data, and groundwater modeling results for regulatory negotiations and litigation support. Examples of different types of environmental analysis needs and their GIS solutions will be presented. Example projects will demonstrate the use of ArcView, ArcView Spatial Analyst, ArcView 3D Analyst, ArcIMS, and various scripts and extensions. This presentation will be useful to any user collecting, analyzing, or mapping environmental data.
