AbstractIntegrating GIS Technology into the National Resource Inventory Track: Database Design, Automation, and Management Author(s): Travis A Rome This paper presents the use of GIS in the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service's National Resource Inventory. The National Resource Inventory provides relevant information that is used to formulate effective agricultural and environmental policies and legislation, implement resource conservation programs, and enhance the public's understanding of natural resources and environmental conditions. The paper focuses on the technology transition of the data collection process from a hard-copy environment to a digital environment for the 2000 National Resource Inventory done in the State of Kansas.
