AbstractSatellite Imagery to Assess Dead Fuel Loading in Sequoia National Park Track: Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management Author(s): Mitchel D. Brookins, William Miller Dead fuel load assessment is critical in evaluating fire risk in remote areas. This study applied remote sensing techniques for determining fuel loading in the Mineral King section of Sequoia National Park. Image processing of Landsat thematic mapper (TM) data from ERDAS as performed to create a series of themes. The results of these themes were compared with field-collected fuel loading data from the study area. Association analysis were used to assess the effectiveness of remote sensing for the evaluation of fuel loading in remote areas. Mitchel D. Brookins Arizona State University, East 7001 E.
