AbstractUtilizing Orthos to Build and Maintain Our Regional GIS Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Manny M Rosas, Jr. Pima Association of Governments (PAG) serves as the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for Pima County and its six jurisdictional members. In 1998 PAG, in conjuction with its members, contracted for digital orthophotography, multispectral imagery, and digital elevation models. The data sets are utilized by all jurisdictional members for creating and maintaining GIS themes. Themes consist of the parcel base, street networks, and various infrastructure. PAG, with the assistance of a grant by Esri and IBM designed a Web site named the "Regional Data Center" (RDC). The Web site is an ArcIMS system that hosts the orthophoto data set and major GIS themes. The initial focus of the RDC is GIS data and the orthophotography data sets. The main capabilities center on GIS mapping functionalities and the ability to order vector and raster data online. PAG is expanding the original flight coverage of 578 square miles to an additional 664 square miles in November 2000.
