AbstractCustomizing ArcIMS 3 to Build U.S. Army Standard Map Server Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Bill Hargenrader, Ray Renner The Combat Terrain Information Systems (CTIS) Program is using ArcIMS 3.0 to build a Web-based solution for delivering digital terrain maps and map-related products produced by the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) and on the Digital Topographic Support System (DTSS) to other U.S. Army command and control systems. The map server will support the Army's Common Tactical Picture by supplying a central repository for digital map dissemination. The software will provide the user the capability to browse the map server's store of data and to select and download data of interest to their system. This paper will focus on the use and customization of ArcIMS 3.0 in building a map server system for delivering NIMA standard and DTSS-generated digital products to the battlefield.
