Abstract
GeoPondicherry: A Citizen and Tourism GIS Software

This paper presents the use of GIS by the citizens and prospective tourists of Pondicherry. The citizen module provides information on the localities, streets, government offices, hospitals, etc. The tourism module provides information on the places of interest, worship, recreation centers, hotels, etc. The user can search for any type of geographic information based on the category, names, keywords, or region. Various category thematics are possible. The citizens have an opportunity to learn to use and derive the advantages of GIS and tourists benefit by planning their trip, thereby benefiting the Pondicherry City government.
