AbstractLinear Reference System Rookies Take on Highway Inventory Track: Transportation and Logistics Author(s): Paul Burke, Richard Mader In theory, street attributes such as number of lanes and speed limits should be easily represented as events on a system of routes in a linear reference system. Such events could be easily understood by nontechnical users. For example, a description such as "The speed limit on Main St. is 35 mph between Adams and Washington Streets," would be one record in an event table. With this advantage in mind, we set out to implement an event-based highway inventory.
