Abstract
Environmental Planning Checklist: Spatial Solutions for Environmental Questions

The naval air station at Patuxent River utilizes a question-and-answer Environmental Planning Checklist as a tool for users to know what environmental laws and regulations they need to comply with before proposing changes to the environment. The questions are based on existing environmental laws and regulations at the Maryland State and federal levels. Questions that involve spatial analysis utilize a customized ArcView application to determine if there is an intersection with the work location and an environmental constraint. This tool is integrated in the enterprisewide approach and has been developed to take a proactive approach to environmental stewardship.
