Abstract
GIS in East Nashville: Community IMPACT! Project

This paper presents the use of GIS in metropolitan Davidson County with a focus on East Nashville. Working with Community IMPACT! (a community investment organization), a portion of East Nashville is targeted to find the area of greatest need. Census data is used to find the neighborhood that has the lowest socioeconomic base along with a high population of teenagers. This information is then used to formulate the target area for the organization to develop its program. The paper explores various demographic data to visually predict the needs of East Nashville and therefore direct the efforts of Community IMPACT!
