Abstract
Port Vila, Vanuatu Landuse/Landcover Change
Track: Ocean, Coastal, and Marine Resources

Port Vila, Vanuatu, land use/land cover is characterized and compared from 1943 to 2000. The source data for the comparison is a 1943 land use/land cover map prepared by Joseph H. Young and an Ikonos Satellite image acquired on July 20, 2000. Incremental changes to the landscape have occurred as well as a systematic displacement of agricultural holdings adjacent to the urbanized area.
