AbstractSpatial Data Analysis of Risk Factors for Infant Health in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania Track: Health and Human Services Author(s): Lucas Onyango Musewe This paper presents the effort to apply geography in the analysis of health inequality. The main focus of this paper is the estimation of spatial models that incorporate both the community-level and individual-level factors that can be used to determine high-risk communities in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, as defined by low birth weight and lead poisoning. The models are based on the observation of 499 contiguous census tracts within municipalities in Allegheny County. The use of spatial data analysis is intended to enhance the understanding of how socioeconomic and demographic characteristics differentially influence the spatial distribution of birth outcomes by neighborhood.
