Abstract
Moving the MapObjects/VB Toolbox to a Higher LevelTrack: Application Development

As a low-level GIS toolbox, MapObjects 2 contains many powerful building blocks, but those blocks are not always combined into the more complex tools expected in a GIS application and available in products such as ArcView. This presentation discusses the use of Visual Basic classes for reusable tools such as an Image Catalog, which manages the creation and display of tiled images from a directory, switching between multiple catalogs and, in conjunction with a Projection Dictionary object, also ensuring that the MapObjects display is set to the correct coordinate system and that any overlaid vector data is optimized for faster display.
