Abstract
Using ArcView for a Large-Scale Water Utility AM/FM System

This paper presents the challenges and successes of creating an enterprisewide Underground Asset Data Management System for the United Kingdom-based water utility, Severn Trent Water. The primary focus is on the customization and use of ArcView to meet business requirements. This includes the integration of ArcView with Oracle 8i, Miner and Miner's RuleBase Engine, and a number of other third party systems. Additionally, we have maximized ArcView system capabilities by adding a number of Visual Basic, C++, and MapObjects-based applications. This has greatly enhanced the ability of end users to collect and manage information critical to their jobs.
